This month:
- rolls over non-stop! as soon as his back touches a flat surface, he rolls straight onto his belly.
- reaches for EVERYTHING! diaper changes are no longer as peachy because the boy will just not stay still!I hear it will only get harder from this point on.
- transfers toys from one hand to the other. kind of cute because he hasn't mastered it just yet. The other day, he was shaking a big rattle-y toy and rattled the toy right into his face real hard (he's strong!). Seconds later, he started crying...and I couldn't not laugh. I know, not nice of me... but I thought it was so cute...
- bends backwards... this one's hard to explain. he arches his back, but not like the kind of arch he use to do when he was uncomfortable. now, he'll arch just to stretch-- when he's held in a cradle position, he likes to hang his head upside down just to stare at stuff from another perspective, i guess. when he hangs, it seems like all is right in the world for him.. so i just let him hang out there if i can help it.
- likes to hold his own bottle (though he hasn't mastered this yet either...)
- tries to feed himself when we are trying to feed him (see below)
- solid foods! so far we've tried baby cereal, carrots, sweet potatoes, avocados, egg yolk, bananas, oatmeal, baby rice crackers. just made a batch of string beans today so that will be the next thing he tries this week. o's been very eager to try everything... everything except carrots, that is!
I thought about all the wiping/cleaning/cooking I'd have to do once the solid foods began their way into our lives and so naturally, I dreaded starting solids. My plan was to hold off until at least 6-7 months but that obviously didn't happen. Towards the end of his fourth month, Owen started to show a lot of interest whenever he saw people eating. So, long story short- he pretty much guilt-ed his mommy into starting him on solids this month!! (How could I resist those longing baby stares???? Don't judge me! :P)
Baby eats soooo well, which makes me happy but nervous at the same time. The first few days we introduce new foods, I worry that it'll never make its way through and out the exit.... I'm not losing sleep over it, but it's definitely a concern each time. He seems to really be enjoying the new tastes though. When we first started, most of the food used to drip down his chin but now-a-days, he seems to gobble up everything (roughly 3 ounces of pureed food).
I purchased a bunch of baby food "gear"... (beaba cook, boon spoon, nuby spoon, food bibs, munchkin bowls, plates, mummum crackers, nature's 1st foods) so planning to begin reviewing them here soon. Stay Tuned! :)
Apologies for not flipping the video camera. Just tilt your heads this time around. I'll try and get it right next time ;)

Love the addition of video! Owen looks like he wants to stuff the whole cracker in his mouth in one shot. What a big boy he's becoming!! Can't wait to have him show off his new moves for eemo this wkend :)
